Japhet Anim
Japhet is a Clinical Trials Coordinator from Ghana. He was trained as a Development Planner and graduated from the University for Development Studies, Ghana in 2007. He was employed by the Kintampo Health Research Centre, Ghana in 2010. He served as a study coordinator in the pivotal RTSS malaria vaccine phase III trial that evaluated the efficacy of the RTS,S/AS01E vaccine against malaria across diverse malaria transmission settings in Africa between 2010 and 2014. He developed a strong interest in clinical research which informed his decision to pursue a master’s in Clinical Trials (2015-2016) from the University of Ghana. He was appointed as the Study Coordinator (2017-2020) for the RTSS phase IIIb trial which demonstrated that the RTS,S/AS01 can be co-administered with Vitamin A, Yellow Fever, measles and rubella vaccines without immune response impairment to any vaccine antigen or negative safety effect.
Japhet joined the European vaccine Initiative (EVI) in July 2021 as a Fellow through the second European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP2) for the EDCTP-TDR Clinical Research and Development Fellowship programme. The Fellowship will strengthen his capabilities in clinical research implementation according to international guidelines particularly for early-stage vaccine development.
