Role of vaccines in combating anti-microbial resistance

In a news piece published by Nature, findings are summarised that highlight the important role vaccines could play as a strategy to prevent the development of anti-microbial resistance. These findings were presented and discussed at a meeting in Wavre, Belgium on 6-7 July that involved scientists from industry and academia and representatives from funding agencies and regulatory authorities.

David Salisbury, a former chair of the World Health Organization’s strategic advisory group of experts on vaccines, and Member of the EVI Board is cited saying that “We need to make a stronger, more evidence-based case for more vaccines”.
