Ali Harandi
Head of Science Strategy
Dr. Ali Harandi is currently "Head of Science Strategy" at EVI. He also holds a visiting faculty position at University of British Columbia in Canada. He was formerly leading a research team at Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Ali studied at University of Tehran, University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, and did a sabbatical at Vaccine Evaluation Center, BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and University of British Columbia in Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Master in Public Health, a PhD in Immunology and a DHE degree. He published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters in the field of vaccine and immunity, has given several keynote talks in international Conferences, and is on the editorial board of several immunology- and vaccine-oriented Scientific journals. Ali was awarded the prestigious Heine-Medin medal by European Society for Clinical Virology in recognition of his contribution to the filed. He has participated in the leadership of several EU-funded R&D projects focused on development of vaccines against infectious diseases, in particular emerging infectious diseases and those endemic to low-and-middle-income countries involving international partners from academia, Pharma and SMEs. Approached by media recurrently for advice and interviews, Ali has contributed to inform public about vaccines. He has also served as expert advisor to, and member of evaluation committees of, several high caliber European and international Philanthropic and non-profit organisations and funding agencies.
