Annet Nanvubya
TDR/WHO Fellow
Dr. Annet Nanvubya is a Medical Doctor and Clinical Trials Manager at the UVRI-Clinical Research Program Initiative. She holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Antwerp, a Master of Public Health from the Makerere University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Medicine.
With over 20 years of clinical research experience, she has contributed to epidemiological studies in high-risk fishing communities and Phase I–III clinical trials evaluating vaccines and drug candidates. She has served as co-Principal Investigator for two Phase I/II HIV vaccine trials and Principal Investigator for a Phase III COVID-19 trial assessing the safety and efficacy of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in Africa. She is also part of the clinical team conducting a Phase III PrEP trial evaluating cabotegravir among high-risk women in fishing communities.
Dr. Nanvubya is a member of the Executive Management Committee at the UVRI-Clinical Research Program Initiative. She is passionate about advancing biomedical research and improving sexual and reproductive health. She is currently a WHO/TDR Clinical Research Leadership Fellow based at the European Vaccine Initiative (April 2026–March 2027), where she works closely with Nicola Viebig, Director of Research.
