Ebrima Kanteh
WHO TDR Clinical Research Fellow
Ebrima is a trained vaccinologist and physician with more than 9 years of field expertise in conducting and coordinating vaccine trials with the Medical Research Council Unit, The Gambia, at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (MRCG at LSHTM). He holds an MSc degree in Vaccinology and Pharmaceutical Clinical Development from the University of Siena, Italy and studied medicine at the University of The Gambia.
His experience includes working as a sub-investigator at the Vaccine and Immunity Department of MRCG at LSHTM in a leadership role in coordinating various phases of vaccine trials. He was also a principal investigator on the Booster Vaccine for Yellow Fever (BoVY) trial and a sub-investigator in the maternal and infant vaccination trials with the aim of vaccine development and protection against pneumococcal pneumonia, pertussis, meningococcal A, and malaria.
His research interests include evaluating novel interventions to guide health policies in the prevention and control (including but not limited to vaccine-induced protection) of infectious diseases, especially those that are endemic in LMICs, and being passionate about vaccines’ R&D.
As a fellow, Ebrima aims to acquire further clinical project leadership and management skills during his tenure at EVI. He aspire to utilise his expertise to contribute to the formulation and execution of impactful global health research projects.
