Marta joined European Vaccine Initiative as a Clinical Project Manager in October 2025. With a strong background in both academic science and clinical research, she brings over eight years of experience supporting and monitoring trials across multiple therapeutic areas, including infectious and respiratory diseases, oncology, neuroscience, general medicine and rare diseases.
Her academic background includes a PhD from the University of Technology in Dresden, Germany and a master’s degree in biology from the University of Lisbon, Portugal. Before transitioning into clinical research, she conducted fundamental research at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, in molecular, cell and developmental biology.
Marta has since held roles of increasing responsibility in clinical operations, contributing to trial oversight, site management, data quality, patient safety and regulatory compliance across Europe. She is fluent in Portuguese and English, with strong proficiency in German. Her combined experience in laboratory science and clinical development enables her to bridge scientific insight with operational execution, supporting organizations in advancing impactful health research.
Beyond her professional life, Marta loves traditional African dances and rhythms and enjoys listening to the sound of the balafon.
