Sukai has an academic background spanning from BSc degrees in Medical Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences from Liverpool John Moores University followed by a Master's degree Infectious Diseases jointly from University of London and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She has also undertaken doctoral research in malaria genomics at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin.
With over a decade of research experience, her work has focused on malaria at the molecular and genomic levels. She has contributed to international research projects including several when she worked at the Medical Research Council The Gambia Unit at LSHTM resulting in several peer-reviewed publications. This experience has shaped her interest in connecting scientific research with effective project coordination and international collaboration. She joined the European Vaccine Initiative (EVI) with a passion aimed at advancing innovative solutions for infectious diseases and advancing global health.
