Zakariah Buwah

WHO-TDR Clinical Research Fellow

Zakariah Buwah is a Clinical Trial Coordinator at the Kintampo Health Research Centre in Ghana. Over the course of his career, he has developed a strong interest in studying vaccines and treatments for various diseases, including the RTS,S malaria vaccine, COVID-19 vaccine, Lassa fever vaccine, and sickle cell treatments.
He is a WANETAM-trained clinical trialist sponsor by EDCTP with international experience, having worked on the fractional dose yellow fever vaccine at the Medical Research Council (MRC) unit in Gambia. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Zakariah joined the European Vaccine Initiative (EVI) as a fellow through the World Health Organization’s TDR Clinical Research Leadership Programme. Through this fellowship, he aims to enhance his expertise in clinical research following international guidelines. He seeks to strengthen his skills in clinical trial design for new vaccines, early-stage vaccine development, project management, and gain a broader understanding of multinational vaccine development projects.
