On 22 May 2025, a delegation from BioNTech visited the European Vaccine Initiative (EVI) to engage in a dialogue focused on strengthening global capacity building efforts and supporting scientific training for fellows hosted by both organisations.

June 2025

Discussions highlighted the mutual interest in enhancing training and mentorship, fostering knowledge sharing, and empowering early-career scientists—particularly those from low- and middle-income countries. Both organisations emphasized the value of equipping skilled researchers capable of advancing locally led solutions for current and emerging health challenges in infectious diseases.

Fellows from the WHO/TDR Clinical Research Leadership fellowship programme and the AFRIKA KOMMT! Program shared personal insights on how their experiences have shaped their professional growth.

The visit also offered fellows from both organisations an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and learn from each other’s experiences. These informal peer interactions reinforced the shared commitment to nurturing future leaders in vaccine development and global health.
